We would just like to feedback on the success of our weekly blog in which we share a behind the scenes look at production activities and issues – good and bad - for this brand new DVD series. We have not yet put actors in front of camera and yet it would appear from the response to the blog that the show is already developing a fan base. That’s not bad. Read it now at: http://www.witchtrinity.blogspot.com

TODAY AND TOMORROW – DVD 5 RUNNING LATE

We have to report that fans of the soap, eager to get their hands on DVD 5, will have to wait a little longer as we’ve fallen a little behind on our release schedule. Work is still progressing with this project and we hope to see it released on Amazon in January. A reminder that you can still enjoy the brand new weekly episodes posted every Tuesday.

PAGE 27 – FUNDING APPLICATION

Page 27 is our first augmented play. We met with a possible Funder for the play and have been given the go ahead to submit an application which is excellent news. Work has started on pulling the application requirements together (never a simple task) and we are looking to submit early in the next year. The opportunity is still available to anyone wanting to collaborate with this production.

APPS – NEW 2B ACTING APP MODULES AND TIMEUP

The hard work to retest our iPhone and iPad Apps following Apple’s software upgrade to IOS 5.0 is proving time consuming but we are having great success. This month we have upgraded our 2b Acting App and once again added new Free features as well as a new Voice Level exercise module – NOW AVAILABLE ON THE APPLE APP STORE. We are also very pleased, as we have taken the opportunity to upgrade our very first iPhone App – TimeUp – Which gives a countdown in seconds to the most important dates in the calendar year. Like Christmas, the New Year and of course our online soap ‘Today and Tomorrow’. We’ve added a voice countdown from 20 to 1 so it’s even more exciting waiting for the TimeUp.

FILM PRODUCTION SERVICE – THE SPACE

We have submitted an ‘expression of interest’ to be part of a new project being ran by the BBC and the Arts Council called The Space - The Space is an experimental digital arts media service and commissioning programme that could help to transform the way people connect with, and experience, arts and culture. It is an exciting project that links our work with promoting Cultural Leaders from Kirklees Council’s Pinnacle 10 programme with digital arts. Fingers crossed that we are selected to submit an application.

FILM PRODUCTION - RESPONSE TO TENDERS

We are pleased to be invited to bid for work and over the coming months we have a number of submissions in hand. The difficulty we have is that bidding is very resource intensive and the cost may not be recoverable if we are unsuccessful. However, we are always optimistic as bidding gives us a chance to show to some very important organisations why we are different and the benefits our creativity, project management skills and our networks brings to the table.

TODAY AND TOMORROW – HIGH PRAISE

We love the feedback we are getting when we release the new episodes of the soap every Tuesday and would encourage more – so please don`t hold back. We love when favourite lines are quoted or when people talk about their favourite scenes. The good news for fans is that we have started work to release DVD 5 which we hope should see it appear in Amazon online stores ahead of the Christmas.

PAGE 27 – FUNDING APPLICATION

Page 27 is our first augmented play. Augmented reality plays use the real world as the stage on which the story is told. To the audience the characters of the play appear to exist in real space and time and they are able to follow the story in much the same way as they follow the journey of characters on reality TV shows. We are working hard to secure funding with meetings with potential funders planned over the coming months. The opportunity is still available to anyone wanted to collaborate with this production.

APPS – NEW 2B ACTING APP MODULES

The world of Apps on the iPhone continues to change with Apple recently releasing the upgrade of the base software to IOS 5.0. This has meant a lot of testing of our existing Apps to ensure that they operate with the new software. We have also updated the Apps system development kit and are back in position to release new modules for our popular 2b Acting App enabling us to stay with our commitment to release at least one new App a month.

FILM PRODUCTION SERVICE – 3D ANIMATION

We have added 3D software to our editing suite giving us the in-house capability to produce really stunning visual effects. 3D animation, used correctly, can save money on locations, on props and (dare I say it) on actors. This puts us in a position where we can offer much more for much less as part of our film production services.

HOW TO GET THE RIGHT APP

The growth in smart devices and the demand for Apps means more businesses are considering having their own professional App to be part of the revolution.

At the Macworld Conference & Expo in January 2007, Apple’s Steve Jobs revealed the first iPhone and alongside this was Apple’s App store (July 10, 2008). The App Store provides easy access to small software modules tailored to the iPhone features.

On April 29, 2009, the App Store surpassed one billion downloads. Since then, others have quickly followed and we now have Google’s Android Apps Market (October 22, 2008), the Ovi Store (May 26, 2009), and others with the Windows Phone Marketplace joining the fray on October 21, 2010. This means that Apps are now available for nearly all types of smart device on today’s market.

As for the word ‘App’, due to the intensive marketing, it is now known by consumers around the world to the point where having an App is almost as important as having an online Web site.

So, what does it mean for businesses to have their own professional App? Apps provide a number of benefits to businesses; the opportunity to attract, connect and directly engage consumers to create additional income streams, increase brand awareness or deliver business efficiency. However, putting your name on an App is not that straight forward.

Apps development has several stages in the process; idea, design, creation and account management plus remember that the work doesn’t stop at development. For your App to be found and used then a plan for marketing and App support is needed.

In short, App development is not for the faint of heart and the most prudent route to getting your App may be to engage professional App developers like 2b Acting to take care of the process.

Since 2008, Yorkshire based 2b Acting have been producing and releasing Apps for their own business so they have real experience invested in their in-house team.

Their infrastructure and methods are used to simplify the interface so clients better understand and are able to effectively contribute in the development process. The added advantage is that the company has access to media production services so things, like stunning graphics and exciting videos, which make Apps standout, can be readily included.

With fixed price rather than hourly rate commissions, allowing for better budget management, professional App developers such as 2b Acting may be the best way of getting the right App.

CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Capturing your business event, creating useful video training material, producing interesting and watchable video podcasts requires a little more knowledge and effort than it takes to make home movies of your holiday, birthday party, or wedding.

Since the Sharp J phone introduced camera phones in 1997 the apparent ease of capturing images and now video would appear to make the need for professional film productions redundant. Low cost high end equipment such as High Definition or HD recorders producing stunning image quality are now available as mass consumer devices. Why then is there a need to consider getting professionals to film your event or create your video advertisement or promotion material for the web or DVD?

The answer is ‘Your target audience’. For your film to be successful, you must keep in mind throughout the production the needs and interests of your target audience (the audience your film is designed to reach). For your film to have value and a lasting effect, it must in some way affect the audience emotionally. An amateur may be fortunate to capture moments that achieve this end but it is likely to be more luck than judgement and the use of cheaper production equipment may still prove costly to your business if you get this wrong.
